Institution Outline

The archaeological center acts as a central institution within Nagasaki prefecture for
the investigative research of archaeology, as well as promoting further archaeological
research is the sites of Nagasaki including eHaru-no-Tsujif.

Also, findings obtained through research, conservation treatment and detailed analysis
are put to practical use in the administration of the archaeological center, as well as in
exhibitions and publications at Ikikoku Museum and are also effectively used at on-site
training locations.

At the same time as taking on the role of archaeological administration, the center
also develops the East Asian archaeological point of view, and promotes the exchange
of opinions of specialists and research institutes from abroad as well as within Japan.
In addition to this, the center takes full advantage of seminars held at Ikikoku Museum
which present opportunities for this type of exchange, and also makes practical use of
the museumfs development of educational activities.
